About Picked Properly

Picked Properly is a small, independent UK site. It exists because most buying guides are either endless or obviously written to sell whatever pays best. We wanted short, honest lists of things genuinely worth buying, with a straight explanation of why each one made the cut.

The site has two halves: gift ideas, with a gift finder that pulls ideas from all our lists for the person you’re buying for, and top lists, which rank the best few products of each kind.

How we pick

For each kind of product we start with what people across the UK actually buy, and keep buying, rather than whatever is being advertised that week. Something bought by thousands of households has been properly tested in real homes.

From those, we look at what owners say over months of use, check the specifications and, where they exist, independent reviews. Anything with a pattern of problems gets left out, however popular it is.

Every pick gets a Picked Rating out of 10. It starts from how owners rate it, then we adjust it for what we find: a battery that doesn’t last as long as the box claims loses marks, standout build quality gains them.

Photos on the site are illustrative, not the exact product. Prices change all the time, so we show the maker’s recommended price (RRP) where there is one, and a link to check today’s price at Amazon.

We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Every list is checked and edited before it goes live, and we recheck links and picks regularly so nothing goes stale.

How the site is funded

The site is free to use. It’s paid for by affiliate commission and, in future, adverts. Commission never decides what goes on a list. Read how we make money for the details.
